Rickshaw Run: clear the street and free the taxi

Rickshaw Run is a sliding-block escape puzzle in a crowded street. The gold taxi always sits in the exit row, and the player must slide tuk-tuks and trucks out of its way, one move at a time, until it can drive off the right edge.

How to play

  1. The gold taxi sits in the exit row. Slide it all the way to the right edge to win.
  2. Every vehicle only moves along its own direction: sideways vehicles slide left and right, upright ones slide up and down.
  3. Drag a blocking tuk-tuk or truck out of the way first, one slide at a time.
  4. If you are stuck, use a hint to highlight the next vehicle to move. Using fewer hints earns more stars.
  5. Every level has exactly one shortest way out. See how close to it you can get.

Maths skills it builds

  • Planning ahead
  • Logical reasoning
  • Working backwards
  • Persistence

Why it works

To free the taxi a child must plan several moves ahead and often work backwards from the exit, which is the kind of strategic thinking used in multi-step maths problems. The levels are graded by the length of the shortest solution, from 6–9 moves to 23–35 moves, so difficulty rises gently.

Questions parents ask

How are the levels graded?

By the number of moves in the shortest solution: Starter is 6–9 moves, Rookie 10–14, Pro 15–22 and Legend 23–35.

Can I challenge a friend?

Yes. Rickshaw Run supports challenge-a-friend links, so you can send someone a level to beat.

Can I rotate the vehicles?

No. Vehicles slide only along their own direction, which is what makes the puzzle.

Can guests play?

Yes. Guests can play Starter (levels 1–25). Signing up unlocks Rookie, Pro and Legend.
